The Calendar system on the forum provides an easy way of getting a group of friends together to complete a quest.

If you are in need of help for a fellowship quest, choose a date that you can make and add a Calendar entry so that anyone else interested can sign up. Please note that anyone in the Kinship can create an event.

CALENDAR FAQ

For those of you new to the Calendar system (like me), here are some hints and tips!

How do I add an entry to the Calendar?

*Select the Calendar from the list of options below the banner at the top of the page

*Click the "Add new event" button at the bottom of the Calendar page
- this will open a dialogue box for the event information

*Add an event Name
- this is the title that will be shown on the Calendar day entry

*Select an event Type from the drop-down list
- there are two alternatives:
"Normal" does not allow sign-ups, and is useful for general RP events, kinship meetings etc.
"Participation" allows other kin members to sign up for the event. Selecting this also generates a "Group size" field. This will be 6 for fellowship quests, and 12 (The Rift) or 24 (Helegrond) for raids.

*Type a more detailed description of the event into the "Text box". It may be useful to add an estimate of the time required for the quest/ instance/ event.

*Select the "Date and time" you wish the event to be held.

*Click the "Save event" button when you are happy with the event description.

You have now created an event in the Calendar!

How do I sign up for a participation event?

*Select the Calendar from the list of options below the banner at the top of the page

*Click on the Event name from the day list in the Calendar, or from the event list in the side bar of the Calendar
- this will take you to the full description of the event

*Click on the green cross (+) next to the "Participants:" list in the event window
- this will bring up an "Add participant" dialogue box

*Select your "Member name" (your forum username) from the drop-down list

*Select the "Character name" (the character you wish to bring to the event) from the drop-down list

*Click the "Add participant" button

You have now signed up for the event!

How do I add a character to my member profile?

*Click on the "Members" button from the list of options below the banner at the top of the page

*Scroll down to your "Member" name (this is your forum username and may be on a later page)

*Click on the green cross (+) next to "Characters:"
- this will bring up a dialogue box which will allow you to add your LotRO characters

*Type the character name into the "Name" field

*Select the character's "Race" and "Class" from the drop-down lists

*Type any additional information about the character into the "Text box", for instance their vocation, or a brief character biography

*Click the "Save" button

You have now added a charcter to your Member profile!

Since the family has gone during the school holiday, I have the week to myself and can reliably participate in some group events. Imagine my horror seeing the kinship calendar all empty. I fixed that by adding some events for the coming week. All of which are of course tailored to my own needs, but just as obviously alternative ideas are very welcome!
